5 Things That Make Popeyes Chicken So Delicious
1. The Crispier, The Better
There are many restaurants and fast food chains that serve fried chicken, and a lot of them are tasty and enjoyed by millions. Suppose we were to ask Fried Chicken fans what is one of the essential things that every suitable fried chicken needs.
Most would say that Chris’s penis is the number one priority. Popeyes uses more batter than most chicken restaurants, giving the chicken that extra crunch and crack that we all love.
2. It’s All In The Preparation
Popeyes Chicken is packed to the last bite with flavor and spice, and one reason for this is the marinade they use before cooking. Many people who cook chicken will tell you that marinating a chicken properly is important to a great-tasting chicken dish.
Popeyes take great pride in treating their chickens before they cook them. According to their website, Popeyes marinades them in their recipe for at least 12 hours before frying, which gives the chickens plenty of time to soak up all that spice and flavor.
We all know this to be the case as the marinade that Popeyes uses is a reddish-orange which you can see when you bite into their beloved chicken, and the marinade goes all the way through.
3. Fresh, Unhealthy, And Proud of It
In today’s culture, healthy food is at the top of most people’s lists. A lot of people seek out a healthy choice for their lunch. Popeyes is proud of the fact that it is good old-fashioned comfort food. You won’t find many low-calorie options on this menu, and that’s precisely why we love Popeyes.
Instead of trying to fit into the health-conscious minds of people, Popeyes would rather be your choice when you want to skip the healthy diet and have a cheat day.
4. Popeyes Cajun Spice
As many people may know, Popeyes must start selling fried chicken. It did begin as a donut stands outside New Orleans. The donut stands could have done better business. So when Popeyes founder Al Copeland noticed his neighbor doing much better selling Fried Chicken, Copeland switched from Donuts to chicken.
Copeland’s chicken venture took off by infusing his chicken with the all-important New Orleans spices. With many name and direction changes for the restaurant, the spices never changed, and Copeland kept them a guarded secret.
Many people rave about the level of salt Popeyes uses. When using salt and strong spices, there’s a fine line between tasty and disgusting, and Popeyes has found the perfect spot.
5. MSG
The cajun taste is indeed on almost all of their products. There is one ingredient that they don’t advertise as much, and that’s MSG. The meaning of MSG is monosodium glutamate. It is a flavor enhancer that many companies and restaurants use to make their food taste better.
Over the years, using MSG has gotten a lot of bad press. Some organizations claim that it can have health effects on people and can even be addictive. While there may be some arguments to support that case, the use of MSG is considered valid by governing bodies such as the FDA.
Most people eat MSG regularly. It is found in most Chinese foods, canned foods, and processed meats. Glutamic acid, which MSG comes from, can also be found naturally in foods such as cheese, mushrooms, and tomatoes. No definitive evidence suggests that MSG is harmful in foods as a flavor enhancer.
Not all companies like to brag about using it in their foods because of public opinion. Allegedly msg is one of Popeyes’s top secret ingredients in its spice blend to enhance that chicken flavor. However, this won’t stop many people, us included, from going to our local Popeyes for some chicken.
History of Popeyes
Popeyes is a popular fast-food restaurant chain that specializes in southern-style fried chicken. Alvin Charles Copeland is the founder of Popeyes. Al Copeland was a charismatic and flamboyant personality. His story began with many challenges.
His family was impoverished, and his father left them soon after he was born. Due to financial problems, he had to drop out of school when he was only 16. He started working as a soda jerk at a supermarket, an odd job many young people did back then.
Later he joined Tasty Donuts, a donut chain his brother Gil partially owned. When he turned 18, he sold his car to buy one shop location from his brother. This was Al Copeland’s first step into a long entrepreneurial journey. Around the same time, KFC was strengthening its presence in Louisiana, particularly in new orleans, where Al Copeland lived.
His entrepreneurial spirit kicked in, and he decided to try his hand at running a fast-food business. Many restaurants sell burgers. KFC was the only major fast-food outlet that sold fried chicken. He decided to compete against them.
In 1972 he launched his first venture called “Chicken On The Run” The restaurant served traditional fried chicken, but Copeland’s secret recipe set it apart. The recipe included a unique blend of spices, giving the chicken a distinctive flavor that customers couldn’t get enough of.
In 1976, Copeland changed the name of the restaurant to Popeyes. Over the next few years, Popeyes began to expand rapidly. In 1980, there were over 500 Popeyes locations in the United States.
In 1991, Copeland sold Popeyes to America’s Favorite Chicken Company (AFC) for $43 million. AFC later changed its name to Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. to reflect its focus on authentic Louisiana-style cuisine.
Popeyes opened its first restaurant in the Philippines in 2019. Specifically, the first Popeyes location in the Philippines was opened in Arcovia City, Pasig City, in Metro Manila on May 16, 2019.
